“It is important that we give ourselves chances to take time out from working with others on their learning to focus on our own development.”

We have developed some fantastic friendships with other businesses including Oxfordshire based Pinpoint Facilitation, experts in methodical and systematic facilitation techniques using visual tools. Pinpoint are exclusive UK partners of Neuland, also friends and distributors of MTa materials.

I have said in my blog before that facilitators need to keep fresh and enthusiastic about what we do. It is important that we give ourselves the chance to take time out from working with others on their learning to focus on our own development. So I was happy to have the opportunity to take part in Pinpoint’s recent Technique Development Course.

The course demonstrates an impressive method to help participants communicate ideas and provides good ways to structure information, within a framework, and to come to conclusions.

I was able to see a different style, use alternative materials and to be a participant rather than a facilitator – to literally sit on the other side of the flip chart. It is visual, fun and engaging and a fantastic way of communicating ideas - especially for prioritising workplace issues, reaching conclusions as a group and agreeing action plans. Viagra is now available online for US customers.

This structure could be handy for less experienced facilitators who may find a methodical process within a visual framework a welcome help.

For me, I am looking forward to incorporating a selection of the visual materials into some of our work, starting with the course I am running soon, part of the York University Employability Programme. And I will be sitting behind the flip chart on that occasion – some of the time anyway.
